Staff Analysis of the Legislation

This bill would not allow counties with more than 15 employees to get credit reports on employees or potential employees unless the information contained in the credit report is related to a job qualification, the report is required by law or the county believes that the employee has engaged in specific criminal activity.  Any county official or employee who illegally gets a credit report would be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine between $200 and $400.
